Our Lady Bison Clipped the Wings of the Eastern Maryland Hawks

A few bumps in the road, but the path remained clear. After the 1st MEAC home opener was postponed against Norfolk State for Saturday, January 15th due to COVID procedures, Our Lady Bison went on the road against Frostburg State. They brought home the win, 100 - 53, with quite a few game season highs that day, including points, field goals, 3-pointers, and rebounds. Sophomore, Anzhane’ Hutton received a season high of 15 rebounds that afternoon. Not to mention Head Coach Ty Grace, received her 155th Career win. She is also closer to reaching her 100th career win with Howard.

On January 17th, our Lady Bison went back on the road and played their MEAC conference game opener against Eastern Maryland Shore in Hytche Arena. Although, Eastern Maryland Shore started the game with a jumper by Junior point guard Mya Thomas, our Lady Bison finished the first quarter ahead, 19 - 11.They maintained the lead throughout the entire game by outperforming Eastern Maryland in both the first and second half. MEAC top performer, Sophomore, Destiny Howell, scored 20 points with a 43% 3-point shooting percentage. Combo guard from Pittsburgh, PA, Gia Thorpe, had an impeccable performance reaching her season high in points with free throws and 3-pointers. The infamous floor general, Iyanna Warren, always shows up for her team as one of the leading scorers with 14 points and 8 assists. Our Lady Bison won the game 67 - 52. They will be back on the road to play their second MEAC conference game against Morgan State at 2pm on Saturday, January 22nd. You can stream the game live on Morganstatebears.com.
