Lady Bison Pull Through 61 - 59 for Season Home Opener December 1
At their season home-opener, the Lady Bison pulled through with an impressive 61-59 win over Loyola, MD. Coming off the road, they were 2 - 4, winning two of their last three games. Before the game, Coach Ty stated that she expects growth this season for our ‘20-21 MEAC champions. She understands that they will have targets on their backs, and they must rise to the challenge. It is safe to say that our Lady Bison did not disappoint. Although they did have a gradual start, trailing Loyola by 11 points at the end of the first quarter. This did not break their spirits. They closed some of that gap right at the half trailing Loyola by 9 points, finishing 21 - 30. A key piece that solved this puzzle at the beginning of the second half was Sophomore Guard, Destiny Howell. Howell led the team in scoring with 21 points, shooting 7 for 12 on the field and 4 for 6 on the line. As Howell may have led the team, she was not carrying it alone. Junior Guard, Iyanna Warren, placed the team to 58 - 59 on a layup with one minute left on the clock. With a steal from Powell and assist to Warren, they were ahead 60 - 59 with seconds to spare. Coach Ty urged the team to step up defensively, and Senior Forward, Krislyn Marsh was clearly listening. She out performed everyone with an impressive 11 rebounds. We are looking forward to our Lady Bison staying on this trajectory with their next home game against Hofstra at 2pm on Saturday, December 4th.
